On Sunday, February 2, a shooting incident in Hamtramck (around Gallagher & Holbrook) left one young man hospitalized with a serious gunshot wound to the head. The event unfolded when Hamtramck city police responded to a report involving a vehicle occupied by four young men.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered that one of the individuals had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as the son of Mohamed Ali Dirahm Mozib, hails from the town of Arif in Yemen. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he underwent a serious operation and is currently in a coma, recovering in the ICU in critical condition.
The other three individuals in the vehicle were questioned by the Hamtramck police and subsequently released at 1 AM on Monday. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this alarming incident.
Despite it being his day off, Hamtramck Police Chief Jamiel Altaheri responded quickly to the scene, demonstrating his commitment to community safety and support during this troubling time.
